My Step Holds Educational Meeting: Details

According to the newspaper "Hraparak", the My Step faction held a meeting on Sunday, organized by Lilith Makunts and Hakob Simidyan, not in the National Assembly but in their own office, trying to prevent leaks and discuss "important" issues away from the public eye.

As characterized by our source in My Step, the gathering had an educational significance regarding how their MPs should behave, what to say, what not to say, and with whom to speak. "Despite the call that we are free to express our opinions, nevertheless, specific individuals, such as Viktor Yengibaryan, Nazeni Baghdasaryan, and Sofia Hovsepyan, were told not to voice their opinions on everything," it was reported.

However, the actual target was Narine Tukhtikyan, who recently made the imprudent request to shut down Russian channels broadcasting in Armenia. She was told that she needed to understand the chain reaction that such a statement could trigger: "You have set the Russians against us." Moreover, it was mentioned that Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian president, was personally concerned about the issue.

Narine Tukhtikyan was tasked with fixing the mistake she made. Incidentally, Ruben Rubinyan, the head of the Foreign Relations Committee, also mentioned that it would be better for everyone not to speak about Armenian-Russian relations.

During the three-hour meeting, they also discussed the candidate for the Constitutional Court to be presented at the upcoming National Assembly session. One of the attendees noted that they should not outright reject the candidate but rather listen, and handle the rejection process delicately. Edvard Arakelyan added that they should not dismiss all opposition proposals simply because the opposition is making them, as there can sometimes be quite intelligent and interesting suggestions.
