Authorities Ready to Go to the End in the 'Spayka' Case

The newspaper 'Zhamanak' reports: 'For the past 10 days, Davit Ghazaryan, the director of the 'Spayka' company, has been in detention, accused of malicious tax evasion.

According to the State Revenue Committee (SRC), the company led by Ghazaryan has concealed 7 billion drams in taxes from the state. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that the company's liabilities could exceed 40 billion drams. By detaining Ghazaryan, the state is unlikely to recover the money owed, as the 'Spayka' company might cease its operations—which everything indicates—and declare bankruptcy. In such a scenario, all of its assets, currently pledged to banks, would be auctioned off, which would barely cover its credit obligations. Consequently, the state would receive nothing, a major exporting company would shut down, and several hundred people would become unemployed. The authorities seem to understand this, but are ready to go to the end for the sake of restoring justice.'
