Today We Feel Very Abandoned, Want to Sell What We Have and Leave: Businessman to the Prime Minister
The banking policy of the state has been more usurious, stated Levon Baburyan, the owner of the "Anahit" resort in Stepanavan, addressing Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the investment-business program conference "My Steps for the Lori Province," organized by the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development and the Lori Regional Administration.
“The banking system has been focused on taking what people have away from them, and today we feel more abandoned and hopeless,” he said.
The businessman considered it a significant step that fines for individuals were forgiven, but noted that no such measures have been taken for businesses. He mentioned that there are many people like him.
“It is indeed commendable that the economic revolution is moving forward, but until the issues are resolved, believe me, there is a desire to sell what we have and leave Armenia,” he stated.
The question was answered by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“You are a representative of the old economic system, where a person needed a patron and a 'krisha' to do business. But you took the loan, you signed, did you analyze at that moment whether that loan was bearable for you or not? Today, do you know how many people take rural loans, buy a ‘Niva,’ drink, and wreck the ‘Niva’ against a wall? The next moment they say, 'Well, government, aren't you doing anything for us?'”
