No Preconditions for Armenia to Withdraw from CSTO, Davit Tonoyan
Armenia is ready to continue fulfilling the duties of the CSTO Secretary General, meaning that a new representative can be appointed to that position. This was stated by Acting Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan in an interview with Russian journalists, as reported by RIA Novosti.
At the same time, he noted that there are no preconditions for Armenia to withdraw from the CSTO.
Responding to a question regarding whether the existing problems within the CSTO (according to the Armenian Prime Minister's opinion) could serve as a reason for Armenia to exit the organization, the acting minister said, “I have not heard of any issue that could serve as a precondition for Armenia's withdrawal from the CSTO; there are no such preconditions—neither geopolitical, nor military-political, nor strategic.”
