Which Country Will Hold the Presidency of the EEU in 2026
The presidency of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will pass to Kazakhstan in 2026. This was announced by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko during a narrow-format meeting of the Eurasian Economic Supreme Council, according to TASS.
"One of the important issues on the agenda is the presidency in our union's bodies in 2026. According to established procedures, this honorable right will be passed to the Republic of Kazakhstan. I am confident that Astana's presidency will provide a new and powerful impetus to the development of Eurasian economic integration, as it has always been the case with us," he stated.
According to him, during an expanded-format meeting, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev can present the priorities for Kazakhstan's presidency in the EEU next year.
In 2025, the Belarusian side will hold the presidency in the bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union. The member states of the EEU are Belarus, Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
