Lavrov Comments on International Criminal Court's Arrest Warrant for Putin

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov criticized the International Criminal Court (ICC) decision to issue an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin during a press briefing, as reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the agency, Lavrov called the warrant "nonsense." He added that the document was created under pressure from the West, bypassing all international norms.

"The immunity of state leaders is guaranteed by international law and relevant conventions. In the case of ICC decisions, there is not so much a sense of immunity as there is a sense of Anglo-Saxon immunity, which has compelled this prosecutor, who is of Pakistani nationality, to bypass all procedures and rules to concoct the warrant that he has against the President of Russia," Lavrov stated.
