Video: Artsakh on the Brink of Humanitarian Disaster Due to Azerbaijani Actions - Pashinyan
During today’s government meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the cessation of gas supply to Artsakh. Pashinyan stated that for three days now, Artsakh has been deprived of gas supply due to the direct involvement of Azerbaijan.
“On March 7, the gas pipeline supplying Artsakh was blown up in an area under Azerbaijani control. For various reasons, Azerbaijan did not allow the repair of the pipeline and eventually repaired it themselves. As a result, according to our information, a valve was installed on the pipeline, and on March 18, Azerbaijan simply closed the valve without any explosions, thus proving that they were also responsible for the explosion on March 7,” the Prime Minister announced.
Pashinyan noted that both interruptions in gas supply occurred under exceptional weather conditions. On March 7, an unprecedented amount of snow fell in Artsakh for the last 30 years, and the temperature experienced a historical decline. Additionally, on March 21, records for temperature drop and snowfall were exceeded, with snow accumulation reaching up to 1.5 meters in some areas.
According to the Prime Minister, under such conditions, Artsakh was deliberately deprived of the supply of natural gas, which is vital for living. “This is enough to understand that Artsakh has found itself on the brink of a humanitarian disaster due to Azerbaijani actions. I have no doubt that the heroic people of Artsakh will overcome this challenge as well. However, I must record that Azerbaijan's actions also serve the people of Artsakh because this episode related to the pipeline provides an accurate and succinct description of the Artsakh issue for the international community. This episode allows the international community to understand the essence of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem without flipping through hundreds of pages. It undeniably highlights Azerbaijan's policy toward the Armenians of Artsakh, which aims to make their living in their homeland impossible,” Pashinyan stated.
