Airstrike Hits Central Iraq Region
The Jurf al-Nasr area, located in the northern part of Iraq's Babil province, has been subjected to an airstrike. This was reported by the Lebanese Al Mayadeen television channel on January 19, citing sources, as reported by Armenpress.
According to the television channel, the area hit is under the control of the Iraqi armed forces. The sources also noted that on the night of January 18, U.S. Air Force planes were observed in the vicinity of Al-Qaim, near the Syrian border.
In contrast, Fox News, citing a senior Pentagon official, reported that U.S. armed forces did not conduct airstrikes in the central regions of Iraq that night. Meanwhile, Al Arabiya reported that three explosions occurred near Jurf al-Nasr at positions held by the Iran-backed group Kata'ib Hezbollah. According to sources from the channel, no casualties were reported among the Iraqi army personnel, as reported by TASS.
