Ashot Mikayelyan, Killed by Enemy Fire, Posthumously Awarded
Ashot Mikayelyan, a serviceman who was killed by enemy sniper fire yesterday, has been posthumously awarded the "Cross of Valor" 1st degree by a presidential decree.
“Based on the Prime Minister's recommendation, in accordance with Article 136 of the Constitution, as well as Articles 5.3, parts 1 and 9 of the Law on State Awards and Honorary Titles of the Republic of Armenia, for the courage and selflessness displayed in protecting the borders of the Fatherland, Captain Ashot Gevorgi Mikayelyan, commander of a unit of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, has been posthumously awarded the 'Cross of Valor' 1st degree,” the decree states.
