Nearly 6000 Citizens to Have Access to Free Medications: Ministry of Health
The Ministry of Health is proposing an amendment to a government decision. The approval of the draft will enable beneficiaries to take advantage of free medications provided by the state through the outpatient-primary health system as a result of decreasing the poverty threshold unit from '30.00' to '28.00' as per government decision N50-N dated January 24, 2019.
According to the current regulation, the number of beneficiaries with a poverty unit of '30.01' is approximately 200,000. With the amendment, the number of current beneficiaries will increase by 6,114 and will include those beneficiaries who currently receive medications at a 50% discount but will receive them for free as a result of the decision change, amounting to 21,100 individuals. The total number of beneficiaries will thus be 27,206. Under the new initiative, it is proposed to include members of families with a poverty unit above '28.00' that are registered in the social assessment system.
According to government decision N622-N dated April 23, 2020, these specified beneficiaries are entitled to guaranteed free hospital medical assistance from the state.
