Mercedes Hits Wedding Participant in Front of Restaurant
On October 13, a fatal hit-and-run occurred in the Kotayk region. At around 23:50, in front of the "Ojakh" restaurant complex on the Yerevan-Balahovit highway, 36-year-old Davit Hayrapetyan, a resident of Balahovit village, struck a pedestrian, 43-year-old Sarkis Sargsyan, a resident of the Davitashen administrative district of Yerevan, with his Mercedes vehicle bearing license plate 36 AL 037.
According to Shamshyan.com, the victim died on the spot. Police took the driver of the Mercedes into custody to prevent any conflict between him and the deceased's relatives. By order of the investigator, the vehicle was moved to the designated secured area of the Kotayk police department.
Witnesses at the scene indicated that the victim was attending a wedding ceremony at the "Ojakh" restaurant complex with a friend and was struck by the Mercedes upon exiting onto the street. Another driver claimed to have witnessed the victim and his friend crossing the street and stated he barely managed to avoid an accident, but the Mercedes was unable to stop, resulting in the tragic incident.
