Border Guard Wounded in Incident on Azerbaijan-Iran Border
On the night of October 12, an incident involving a border violation occurred on the Azerbaijan-Iran border. An Iranian citizen attempted to illegally cross the border and smuggle drugs. The Azerbaijani border guard service has provided details.
During the border violation, Azerbaijani border guards noticed the Iranian and attempted to apprehend him. However, the Iranian resisted and injured one of the Azerbaijani border guards with a knife. According to the Azerbaijani side, the guard's condition is stable.
Further examination of the Iranian revealed that he was attempting to transport drugs into Azerbaijan. Ethibar Yadigurov, an Iranian citizen with an Azerbaijani surname, was found in possession of:
- 790 grams of marijuana
- 105 grams of heroin
- 100 grams of other drugs.
