We Gave the Turks Literature on the Genocide and Forget-me-nots Pins: Zohrabyan

NAIRA ZOHRABYAN, a member of the National Assembly from the Prosperous Armenia faction, wrote on her Facebook page:

“On the 100th anniversary of the Genocide, we were in Strasbourg. Arpine Hovhannisyan and I entered the Turkish delegation's room and gave the Turks literature on the Armenian Genocide along with forget-me-not pins for all members of the Turkish delegation. The secretary of the Turkish delegation silently took the literature and the forget-me-not pins. Then we entered the Azerbaijani delegation's room and left the same package for the Azerbaijanis. Unlike the Turkish delegation, the Azerbaijanis showed some resistance. Our gifts were not well received by the Azerbaijanis.

By the way, during this session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), a declaration condemning the Armenian Genocide and all genocides in general was distributed with the signatures of 174 parliamentarians from 41 countries. The presidents of all political groups and committees of PACE joined the declaration, which was an unprecedented phenomenon for this body. A parliamentarian from Turkey also joined the declaration.

I believe it is pointless to state what efforts our PACE delegation made to receive such a declaration.”
