The Head of the Community Police Department Committed Violence Against a Club Patron: Investigative Committee
The investigation into the case of violence committed by the head of the Community Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia has concluded. This was initiated by the Special Investigative Service's Department for the Investigation of Torture and Abuse of Authority.
During the course of the investigation, it was established that on November 21, 2024, the head of the Community Police Department used violence against a customer of a club. After the incident, he instructed club staff and patrons to leave the premises, thereby disrupting the normal operations of the establishment. Additionally, threats of violence were made against the club's singer.
A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against him under Article 441, Part 2, Sub-point 1 of the Criminal Code (abuse of official authority or influence by an official through the use of violence or threats of violence). The criminal case has been forwarded to the supervising prosecutor with a recommendation to confirm it and to send it to the court for substantive examination.
