Attack on U.S. Vice President Vance's Residence; Suspect Arrested
In the early hours of January 5, 2026, U.S. law enforcement authorities arrested a man suspected of attacking the personal residence of Vice President J.D. Vance in Cincinnati, Ohio. According to reports from CNN, the incident occurred shortly after midnight when an unknown individual smashed several windows with a hammer and attempted to enter the building. Additionally, the assailant also damaged one of the Secret Service vehicles parked near the home.
Fortunately, Vice President Vance and his family were not at home during the incident. It has been reported that the vice president spent the holiday season in Ohio but had left for Washington just hours before the incident.
Secret Service agents monitoring the area spotted the suspect and were able to apprehend him before he could enter the residence. Currently, law enforcement is investigating whether the attack was specifically targeted at the vice president's family or if it had other motives.
The White House and the vice president's office have yet to provide an official comment, but security measures around Vance's residence have been further tightened. This incident comes amid heightened tensions and security concerns surrounding the highest echelons of U.S. leadership that have escalated in recent weeks.
