Russian Special Flight Lands at New York Airport
A Russian special flight departing from St. Petersburg has landed at New York's airport, according to data from the Flightradar24 portal.
The Il-96 aircraft of the "Rossiya" flight squadron is typically used for diplomatic flights. It remains unclear who is on board and what the purpose of their arrival in the United States is.
Earlier, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that two issues had arisen abroad regarding refueling the aircraft of the "Rossiya" special flight squadron, which he uses due to Western sanctions. The first incident occurred in Johannesburg (South Africa) in 2023 when he was tasked with representing the president at a summit. A similar situation later arose in Brazil.
