The Director of Kapan Music School Embezzled Funds from the State Budget Using His Daughter's Name

The director of the Aram Khachaturian No. 1 music school in Kapan, Syunik Province, has allegedly committed official forgery, resulting in the embezzlement of 1,816,000 drams from the state budget. This information has been reported by the Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee.

The investigation has established that L.V., while serving as director, hired his daughter as a clerk. Although the daughter did not attend work, she received a salary.

“From the very first day of his daughter's employment on May 12, 2021, until the day she was dismissed on July 24, 2023, L.V. introduced clearly false information into official documents that served as the basis for payroll payment and submitted them to the accounting department,” the Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee states.

L.V. has been charged under the second part of point 2 and point 3 of Article 256 of the Armenian Criminal Code (the embezzlement of entrusted property, committed using governmental or official powers or influence derived from these powers) and the first part of Article 445 (official forgery).

During the investigation, the state’s losses were fully reimbursed. The investigation has been completed, and the materials of the case have been submitted to the supervising prosecutor for approval and for forwarding to court with an indictment.
