Tense Situation Near Kiev Bridge: Citizen Attempting Suicide

On June 25, an emergency incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 14:00, the operational management center of the Police of the Republic of Armenia received a call reporting that a citizen had crossed a dangerous line on the "Victory" Bridge and was threatening to jump off.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, patrol officers, the operational group of the Central Division of the Police, one emergency dispatch unit from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and a rescue psychologist arrived at the scene.

After about an hour of negotiations, the police succeeded, and the citizen chose to refrain from taking the extreme step. He was escorted by the police to the Central Division of the Police.

An investigation has been launched into the incident by the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia's Yerevan City Investigative Department for the Central and Norq-Marash Administrative Districts. The police and the investigative division are working to identify the individual involved.
