Accepting This Absurd Situation Called the Armenian Colony of the Russian Railways
Environmentalist Levon Galstyan wrote on his Facebook page: "A story about one ticket or the Armenian colony of the Russian Railways:
On Sunday, we were supposed to go to Gyumri. Since we had a small child with us, we decided to take the 10:30 express train. Well, we knew that tickets are not sold online—what a luxury for Armenians, let them manage somehow.
The day before, we called 1-84 and checked; they told us to come at 7:00 in the morning to line up, just in case the tickets run out. I arrived at the station at 7:30 and stood in line. When my turn came, they said they were selling tickets for the 7:50 regular train now. After that, we will sell tickets for the express train.
We boarded the 7:50 train, and when I finally wanted to buy a ticket, they said that tickets for the 9:15 express train would go on sale at 8:30, and for the 10:30 train, they would start selling at 9:50.
Now I’m standing in front of the station and don’t know whether to curse the Russians or ourselves for tolerating all of this, that in the 21st century, we are deprived not only of the ability to buy tickets online but also of the chance to buy them in advance.
I am thinking about to whom I should address so that this elementary issue is resolved. Is it worth even talking about this or should we just accept this absurd situation, which is called the Armenian colony of the Russian Railways?
P.S. I am not writing about the violations concerning the Armenian language law."
